The European Network of Migrant Women welcomes the European Commission’s recent decision to open formal proceedings against major pornographic platforms, including Pornhub, Stripchat, XNXX, and XVideos, under the Digital Services Act (DSA), with the aim of safeguarding minors from exposure to online harmful content.
The proactive enforcement of DSA obligations sends an important signal that online platforms must prioritize child safety, and as we commend the Commission and Member States for taking coordinated steps to address these critical issues, we urge the Commission to take this moment as an opportunity to expand the scope of its investigations to encompass the broader and deeply interconnected harms that these platforms inflict, particularly on women and girls.
